Acorus calamus is a non-invasive rush that whilst strictly non-native, has been naturalised in the wild since the 17th century. This well behaved rhizomatous perennial forms slowly spreading clumps in shallow water or boggy ground, with flat, blade-like, fresh green foliage and clusters of arum-like flowers from May to July.
